INDIAN NAVY ENTRANCE TEST
Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) is the officers’ entry under the control of IHQ MoD (Navy)/ DMPR and caters for both Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC). The INET will be conducted twice a year.
Indian Navy is expected to release INET notification in November for the courses commencing at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. he notification will be released to select eligible male and female candidates for short service commission/permanent service commission officers in executive, technical, and education branches. Interested candidates can apply for INET .The exam will be conducted in February 2023 tentatively across various designated centres. Approximately, 8000 candidates are selected for SSB interview based on INET scores. The SSB interview will be conducted tentatively in April 2023 at Bangalore / Bhopal/ Visakhapatnam/Kolkata. The final merit list of all candidates will be prepared based on INET scores and SSB interview. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, INET exam for June 2021 session was cancelled. Selection of candidates was done based on short listing, SSB Interview, and medical.
What is INET?
Indian Navy is one of the most prestigious naval forces in the world, responsible for safeguarding our country above and below the surface of the ocean. Indian Navy Entrance Test or INET is a national-level entrance exam conducted for selection of Officers in various branches/entries of Indian Air Force such as Executive, Educational and Technical. Selected candidates are granted Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) and undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. The exam is conducted twice a year and is open for unmarried male and female candidates.

INET Application Process
INET application form is expected to be released in November . Interested candidates need to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 215 while SC/ST/women candidates are exempted from fee payment.
INET Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for INET are different for different posts. For some posts, both male and female candidates can apply. While some posts are open for only female or male candidates. Medical Standards: All candidates recommended by SSB will have to undergo a medical test. There is no relaxation in medical standards on any ground.
Relaxation in height and weight: Relaxation in height and weight is given to candidates holding domicile of specific regions.

INET Application Form
INET application form is released online. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are required to submit their application forms through the official website joinindianavy.gov.in. The application fee is INR 215 while female/SC/ST candidates are exempted from fee payment. The application fee can be paid online.
Shortlisting of Application Form
The shortlisting of the application form is based on the preference of entries/branches and the normalised marks obtained by the candidates in graduation.
Appearing INET Exam
INET exam is conducted for two hours. The exam contains 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions from English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. Each section carries 100 marks with a negative marking of one mark for incorrect answers. On the basis of INET rank-cum-preference and choice, approximately 8000 candidates are shortlisted for the SSB interview.
Declaration of INET Result
INET result will be announced online on the official website. Candidates need to login with email address and password to check the result.
SSB Interview
The SSB Interview is conducted in two stages. Candidates who clear Stage 1 are called for Stage 2. Those who fail in Stage 1 will be sent back on the same date.
Medical Test
Candidates recommended for SSB are required to undergo a medical examination. Candidates for Pilot entry are required to undergo PABT (Pilot aptitude battery test) followed by Aviation medical examination.
Merit List and Appointment Letter
Merit list is prepared based on the combined marks of INET and SSB interview. Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training as per all India merit of each branch/cadre based on the availability of the number of vacancies in various branches/cadres.
INET Exam Centres
INET exam is conducted across the designated cities determined by the Indian Navy. The SSB interview is conducted at Bangalore/Bhopal/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata. Candidates can select INET exam centres while filling the application form.
INET Exam Pattern
INET exam pattern is such that it is divided into four sections such as English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, and Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. The exam is conducted in computer based mode. Candidates need to pass in all four sections separately with minimum 40 per cent marks. The duration of the test is two hours. The total marks allotted to the test are 400 (each section will be for 100 marks).

INET Cutoff 2022
INET cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to secure to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. Separate cutoff marks are released for different posts and sections. Candidates need to secure both the minimum qualifying cutoff as well as the overall cutoff.
