What is Indian Navy MR Recruitment?

The Indian Navy MR recruitment is conducted twice a year and gives young people with less technical knowledge to become part of the Navy. The full form of MR is Matric Recruitment and the education qualification depends on the profile you are applying for.
Indian Navy MR recruits for these three profiles –

  1. Chef,
  2. Sanitary Hygienist
  3. Steward.
  • The duties of the Chef (MR) include setting the menu, preparing food and taking care of the rations provided.
  • Sanitary Hygienist (MR) is responsible for taking care of the hygiene and cleanliness of washrooms and other areas. They also have other duties, as per the requirement of the Navy.
  • Steward (MR) has many duties most of which are related to the smooth functioning of the organisation. This includes but is not limited to housekeeping, accounting, rationing food and wine, etc.

        Indian Navy SSR Recruitment is a wonderful opportunity for young men to serve as sailors in the prestigious institution of the Navy. As a Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR), candidates are tasked with handling the most sophisticated ships, submarines, missile destroyers, and more. They operate various equipment like sonars and radars and are also trained in weaponry to operate missiles, rockets, and guns.

To become an Indian Navy SSR, one must have studied Science in 12th class with Mathematics and Biology. If selected, candidates go through intensive training at INS Chilka and are made experts in managing different roles at different points in time.

What is Indian Navy AA Recruitment?

Indian Navy releases notification for Indian Navy AA recruitment every year. The full form of AA is Artifice Apprentice and it provides candidates with an opportunity to get trained as a Navy sailor.
AA is more technical in nature as compared to SSR and MR. The responsibilities of AA include operating and maintaining the high-end Navy equipment in addition to managing men. Indian Navy AA work with arms like missiles and mechanical parts like boilers or turbines, based on their specialisation. Anybody who had studied Science with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects can apply for this post.

Indian Navy Eligibility Criteria

Authorities release the eligibility criteria for the Indian Navy MR SSR AA Exam  after great deliberation. Before anything else, candidates who are planning to appear for the exam should be aware of the Indian Navy eligibility criteria and carefully consider them. They should strictly adhere to them as the candidates failing to fulfil the eligibility standards will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process.

To apply for the exam and successfully take part in it. the candidates must fulfill the Indian Navy Eligibility criteria as mentioned below.

  • Indian Navy SSR /AA- Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must be unmarried and an Indian Citizen to be eligible for Indian Navy SSR & AA.
  2. The Candidates who wish to apply for SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) and Artificer Apprentice (AA), must have qualified 10+2 examination with Maths & Physics, with at least one of these subjects – Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science

  1. Candidates should be born between 01 Aug 2002 to 31 July 2005 (Both dates inclusive).
  • Indian Navy MR- Eligibility Criteria 

  1. The candidate must be unmarried and an Indian Citizen to be eligible for Indian Navy MR.
  2. Candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination from the Boards of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

  • The candidates should be born between 01 Apr 2001 to 30 Sep 2004 (Both dates inclusive).

  • Indian Navy MR Salary and Pay Scale

Check the pay scale of Indian Navy MR Sailors as given below:

  • During the initial training period, a stipend of ₹14,600/- per month will be admissible.
  • On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹ 21,700- ₹ 69,100).
  • In addition, they will be paid MSP @ ₹5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable).
Training Stipend

Throughout their training period, all recruits earn ₹ 5700 a month as a stipend. After successful completion, you will earn Grade Pay, Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, and trade benefits. The stipend rate will increase by 50% every time the DA owed on the updated pay band rises by 50%.

Indian Navy MR SSR AA Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Selection

Selection Process

The SSR, AA exam will consist of 100 questions. Each Question carries 01 marks for the correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong marks. No marks shall be deducted for unattempted responses.

All of the above measures were required and valid. The chosen applicants were shortlisted for medical review after the approval of the physical tests.

3. Medical Test

Medical standards for various applications are unique at the entry-level. The medical examination shall be carried out by licensed military doctors in compliance with medical standards specified in the current regulations relating to the admission of sailors. Candidates deemed temporarily unfit during induction can take advantage of specialist examination from the designated military hospital within a total of 21 days.
